Product Description

This is our original and still is our number one product.

Now in its third year, it’s based on simple science and the brains of Rochdale Rotary Club together with the horticulturalists from Rochdale Borough Council’s Environment Department.

Crops suitable for growing are bush-type beans: French, Runner and Broad, Courgettes, Strawberries, Herbs, Tomatoes (Tom Thumb) etc.

Benefits of using our Vertical Vegetable Grow Bag:

2. Great for small spaces
3. Good for creating a communal vertical Urban Farm (see our challenge to the UK)
4. The cone shape acts as a cloche and contains evaporation
5. The black loose-fitting bag allows air to access the roots
6. The ‘V’ shape black bag allows you to monitor the reservoir of water very carefully
7. The polythene tube is reusable for two or three seasons
8. The black floppy flower pot is inexpensive to replace.

The advantage of growing vertically is obvious. Where urban land is at a premium it makes sense to grow plants on top of one another, something similar to high-rise apartments in a city centre.

Check out the ‘before and after’ pictures of trials at Rochdale Council’s Bowlee Nursery – a small vegetable patch of 30×60″ (75 × 150cm) can support about 18 Runner Bean plants. A simple scaffold over the same patch can double your crop and all slug-free.

Rochdale Rotary Club hope to have free Grow Bags (along with any of our products) available for school projects, disabled, elderly, allotment/urban farm trials and countries where water and food are in short supply. The cost of supplying these free Grow Bags will be supported by sales to you.
